It's surprising what wonderful painting subjects you'll find on vintage Christmas cards.  Check out local thrift shops for old cards with beautiful subjects.

Hello, north Alabama china painters!

Welcome to a blog where we can post china painting
club activities, news, events and class schedules.

The Decatur Porcelain Artists Club, the Huntsville Porcelain Arts Club and the Cullman Porcelain Painting Guild recently completed a busy week of holiday activities.

Here's a recap:

♥  The Decatur Porcelain Artists Club met on Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Decatur Library for a Christmas pot luck luncheon and the election of new officers - Carolyn Fechser, President; Judy Chandler, Vice-President; Anna Marie Skonieczny, Secretary; Diane Williams, Treasurer.

The January meeting of the Decatur club will be a two-day paint-along for the first fire of an animal portrait of choice under the direction of Darlene Cooley-Williams.  Dates: Thursday, Jan. 14th and Friday, Jan. 15th, 2016, at Dixie Anderson's home (1113 Trenton Drive SW, Decatur).  Cost is $20 for each member or guest attending.

♣  The Huntsville Porcelain Arts Guild held their December luncheon at The Blue Plate Cafe on Friday, Dec. 11th.  Members of area china painting clubs were invited to attend and over 25 attendees shared delicious food and wonderful fellowship:

Their next meeting will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016, 9:15 am - 11:30 am, at the Huntsville Senior Center on Drake Avenue.

♦  The Alabama Porcelain Painting Guild of Cullman celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Cullman Senior Citizen Center.  Featured guest artists were Kirsten Bradley of Fairhope, AL, who demonstrated a pineapple and Lydia Smith of Eva, AL, who demonstrated a Santa Claus.

New officers for 2016-2017 were installed.   The next meeting will be held March 19th at the Cullman Senior Citizen Center.

After Thanksgiving, Diane Williams and Jan Morrow of the Huntsville Porcelain Arts Guild erected the club's Christmas tree at the Huntsville Main Library:
If you have time before the end of the year stop by the library to tour the Parade of Christmas Trees by some of the area's non-profit groups.  Ornaments on the Huntsville club's tree date back to the 1980's.

On Saturday, Nov. 21st, the Huntsville Main Library held a crafts exposition where local artists displayed their creations.  The Huntsville guild had a booth where members' painted china pieces were displayed and Anna Marie Skonieczny demonstrated the Meissen technique.  Several people signed up for more information on beginning china painting and the club hopes to acquire a few new members.

The Huntsville guild has reserved one of the library's display cases for the month of January when members will display pieces of their works.
